The job of a teaser trailer is as I said to 'tease' the audience. It lets them know that the film is coming in the future and helps to create an initial fan base for the film.
Over the last decade new technologies have had a big impact on distribution and exhibition. Digital distribution is now possible and the audience can consume films in a variety of ways and have a choice when viewing it at the cinema (iMax, Multiplex, 3D, etc.).
