Filming - Day 2 // Production

Today I filmed Wilhelmina (Emily) from 15:15 to 17:15 at her house. We both walked to her house at the end of the school day so no transport was necessary. Once we were there I went through the production schedule and told her what I wanted to get out of all the filming today. There was a short script read through for the 2 lines of dialogue being filmed. No props were used and the appropriate make-up was already applied (as Wilhelmina and I were make-up to school and our characters (Emily and Georgina) have a preferred reading of being regular teenage girls so for them to wear standard make-up is important and emphasises this image.

The filming was very successful and we stayed on schedule. Here is the shot log I completed:

There was no need to provide any catering, drinks or snacks as it was only roughly a 2 hour period of filming however as it was Wilhelmina's own house she was able to get any food or water if she felt she needed it (as was I).

Unfortunately I did not take any behind the scenes footage as I was too busy focusing on getting the shots I wanted.

From a filming and directing position I found the experience enjoyable and creative. I tried to stick to the storyboard in terms of shot positions, angles and in some cases movements but due to the positioning of objects in Wilhelmina's room some of these shots had to be slightly altered. I also make the directorial decision to do extra shots if I felt it was necessary as this provides me with a larger choice of shots from an editing point of view and it is often that you find yourself wanting to experiment and find the best type of shot for the action on the screen so it only makes sense to do extra shots so that this can be achieved effectively.

Tomorrow is a big day of filming involving Wilhelmina and Toby. I will take some behind the scenes photos and videos which I will upload before I edit the rushes from the day.
