Georgina's Costume - Day 2 // Production

Georgina, as I've explained in previous posts is a stock character who is Emily's friends and his concerned about her. She worries about Emily and tries to help her but doesn't really know how as she finds it hard to empathise with Emily.

Being Emily's friend means that she is likely to dress in a similar style to her. Therefore, I have not chosen any items of clothing (e.g. short skirt, a tight dress or baggy trousers) that would give her a completely different mise en scene. For day 2 of filming Georgina wore black tights, brown shorts, a white vest with a blue blouse over the top of it. The shorts and the blouse can be seen in the photos below.

I think these colours compliment each other but give off again a slightly 'tom boy' look as Emily does. Many girls dress like this and are neither extreme 'girly-girls' or 'tom boys' and so to have Georgina wearing clothes that represents this area between the two extremes will be appealing to a lot of the female section of my target audience as they will be able to relate to her.

It is worth noting that the main difference when you compare this outfit to Emily's outfit is the use of colours. Georgina is not depressed in the film and this is therefore represented through this outfit (as oppose to Emily who is wearing all black as she is depressed). Using simple representations like these will help the target audience to easily recognise the protagonist and will emphasis the darkness of Emily's mental illness.
