Wilhelmina & I wore regular make-up (eyeliner and mascara) like our characters (who are regular teenage girls) would do in real life. Toby (Bertie) did not wear any make-up as his character is a teenage boy who does not wear any make-up.
The props for the day included the clock in my lounge. I filmed a CU of this and an XCU. This is important in the part of the trailer where Emily can be seen staring at a clock. No other props were used in the day.
I filmed them both and Wilhelmina filmed when I was in shot. We ran by the production schedule but got everything done a little earlier than expected.
Here are some photos from the day:
Communication throughout the day was very good. This meant I could film shots effectively without wasting time as I was able to let Wilhelmina or Toby know what I wanted from them (in the shots).
Shot log for the day:
My experience of filming and directing was again very good. As this is my third day of filming I felt a lot more confident in telling my actors what I wanted from them in each shot. By this point I was also very comfortable with the camera and was able to get the best out of each shot I had to film. It was also a good experience getting Wilhelmina to be the camera operator when I couldn't be as it meant that I had to tell her what I wanted out of the shot in terms of composition/framing. This required me to trust Wilhelmina in her skills of filming however I did check and approve each shot she filmed to ensure that it was done in a way that was effective and that I would have done. The one directorial change I made in the day was a slight change to the script. This will result in an updated script in a future post but for now the gist of the change is that one of Georgina's lines was given to Bertie as I felt as though Bertie did not have enough dialogue for him to stand out as a stock character. This contradicts the idea of a stock character however since he is the only male in the trailer I think it's important for him to have more than one line so that some people remember who he is and his role in the film. In addition to this this line was slightly altered but it still had the exact same meaning behind it.
